Artificial intelligence (AI) in customer experience is being tested less by the sophistication of the technology and more by what it changes for the customer. In banking, that refers to whether AI can reduce the steps, uncertainty and friction that still define many digital journeys. Saudi Arabia-based Vision Bank’s answer was Noura, a conversational assistant built into its digital banking platform to help customers complete everyday tasks through voice or text.
The proposition was developed around a clear customer problem. Digital banking adoption in Saudi Arabia is high, but many app interactions remain menu-led and process-heavy. Vision Bank designed Noura to move the experience closer to intent-led banking, where customers ask for what they need and are guided through the relevant action.
The platform moved from a controlled soft launch at the end of 2025 to an official launch in January 2026. Noura supports core banking actions including opening sharia-compliant current accounts, adding and managing beneficiaries, making transfers, checking balances, and completing routine servicing requests.
Championing usability
That breadth matters. Vision Bank is not presenting AI as a standalone chatbot or a decorative service layer. Noura is connected to practical banking journeys, with customer requests handled within the bank’s compliance, risk and sharia governance framework. The result has been a customer experience proposition built around usability and not novelty.
The target segments have also given the initiative a sharper purpose. Vision Bank designed the platform for digitally active professionals, young families, first-time banking users and micro and small enterprises. For these groups, the value of AI lies in simplifying access to banking rather than adding another digital feature to an already crowded app.
Family Banking adds another dimension to the customer experience. Parents can use the proposition to manage allowances and support budgeting habits, turning the account relationship into a more guided financial education experience. This broadens the value of the proposition beyond speed and convenience to inclusion, learning and household money management.

For digitally active professionals, young families and first-time users, the value of AI lies in reducing friction and bringing greater clarity and control to everyday banking, rather than adding another digital feature. |
Customer adoption
Vision Bank has already recorded a strong number of active customers and digital transactions, along with over 100,000 AI-driven interactions through Noura since the soft launch. Together, these figures demonstrate customer adoption of conversational banking across real financial activity, rather than interest in AI as a test feature.
The timing also matters. In September 2025, the Saudi Central Bank granted Vision Bank a no-objection certificate to commence digital banking operations in Saudi Arabia. Noura is now embedded within the bank’s public customer proposition, covering account opening, transfers and family banking. For a new digital bank, that makes AI part of the customer journey from the outset, not a later service enhancement.
Conversational banking is increasingly where digital user experience is heading because it reduces the need for customers to understand the bank’s internal process map before completing a task. Vision Bank’s differentiator was applying that shift to regulated Islamic banking journeys, with Noura positioned as part of the operating experience rather than a separate support tool.
| THE JUDGES’ VIEW
The judges recognised Vision Bank for applying conversational AI to practical customer journeys, noting that user experience is moving towards guided, intent-led interaction. Noura stood out for supporting real banking actions across account opening, transfers, servicing and family banking within a regulated Islamic banking model. |
